It's SOCKTOBER, and we're celebrating sock knitting by offering FREE DROP-IN sock mini-clinics every Saturday in October from 11am-12pm. The clinics will be guided by Tracy Young and Erin Gilkes, and we'll be providing sock knitting tips, demos, and techniques, in a casual "knit circle" type setting. The clinics will be followed by our usual Saturday morning Knit Circle (until 1pm), so feel free to stay and knit a while.
PLEASE NOTE: The clinics are offered to people who already know how to knit socks- there will be no instruction during the clinics- and would like to explore ways to enhance their sock knitting experience. If you're looking to learn how to knit socks, we're offering our Sock 101 workshop on October 14th, 21st, and 28th (3 session course).
October 6th: Troubleshooting
Join our first mini-clinic in a casual knit circle setting and chat with Erin about socks, and all the fussy little issues we encounter, and how to overcome them.
October 13th: Adjustments for Better Sizing
Erin will be talking about sizing and making adjustments to your pattern to get a better fit, based on Kate Atherley's Custom Socks book.
October 20th: Tools of the Trade
Explore and play with all the various tools we use to knit socks. Never tried flexi-flips or magic-loop socks? Here's your chance! We'll have all these tools of the trade as well as a variety of wonderful sock yarns in different weights for you to try too!
October 27th: Heels
In this session, we'll be exploring and comparing different heel turns, how they work, and how they fit your feet. It's a great opportunity to get feedback from others about the benefits and disadvantages of different heels, and fibre out which one is best for you.
Don't forget to bring your sock project, and feel free to stay after the session for our regular scheduled Saturday Morning Knit Circle!
